Bill Whitney, City Bee Savers, Wheaton, DuPage County, IL: We only use integrated pest management solutions; no chemicals. Mated queens $35 (sold only if laying 2 weeks with a good pattern) Un-mated $18. We spend the previous summer collecting swarms from homes, buildings, & trees. These colonies are then located on the perimeter of our mating yard to use as local drone stock. We also use queen genetics from these locally produced hives as well as from VSH hives. It is our primary goal to have a hearty stock of bees for our own bee yards so choosing the best traits is important for us. We look for these traits in this order; mite resistant, gentle, pollen collectors, lots of brood, and honey producers. You can find us at www.CityBeeSavers.com or bill@citybeesavers.com or (630)-660-9846 Call to see when queens are available. Taking orders for pick-up only
Dave Meyer, Meyer Bees, 2021 Holt Road, Minooka, IL, Chicagoland: Our queens are produced locally from survivor stock in our Minooka mating yard (currently 125 mating nucs). We graft from selected queens that have survived one or more Chicagoland winters and meet our criteria for honey production, temperament, and disease / mite resistance. We have been able to work with neighbors surrounding our queen mating yard to create a ring of desirable drones 1/2 to 1 mile out. Our queens laying patterns are evaluated before offering them for sale. Mated / marked queens are $35 throughout the spring, summer and fall and are available for pickup as well as shipping. Visit us on the web www.meyerbees.com or call 815-521-9116 or email dave@meyerbees.com for details and to arrange a purchase. Packages and nucs are available seasonally.

The IQI will pursue these goals through the following activities:
To produce queens and bees that are more disease and mite resistant and have greater survival and productivity characteristics under Illinois conditions. By producing them locally they are better adapted to each area in the state.
We seek to do this through educational programs, cooperative exchange of breeding stock, member exchange of ideas and methods of testing stock, cooperative purchase of supplies, and promotion of Illinois-produced queens and bees to our state’s beekeepers.
Here are our constitution and by-laws to support the mission
